FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is central government salary after 8th Pay Commission?

Central employees will have 7th CPC basic revised by an official fitment factor. Until notification, this hub uses 2.86×–3.68× scenarios matching the published table on the 8th Pay Commission salary page.

Which departments are covered?

Railways post pages are live first. KVS, Income Tax, India Post and Defence hubs are listed and marked Coming Soon until their data files ship.

How is in-hand salary estimated?

In-hand = revised basic + DA (0 at reset) + HRA + TA + special allowances − NPS − estimated tax − CGHS. HRA uses 27% / 18% / 9% for X / Y / Z cities.

What fitment factor will 8th CPC use?

It is not notified. Conservative 2.86×, moderate 3.0×, optimistic 3.2× and union-demand 3.68× are planning scenarios only.

Do Railway employees get extra allowances?

Yes. Running Allowance applies to loco running staff (RBE No. 60/2018). Night duty, uniform support and privilege pass are common across many Railway posts.

Is this an official government website?

No. DesiSalary is an independent estimator. Always verify against official Ministry / Railway Board notifications.
